Monthly Field Works (weeding and planting)

We usually meet on the third Sunday of the month at the location on the map to undertake weeding and planting activities within the reserve. We meet at 8am March - November and usually work for around 1.5 hours, followed by morning tea.

Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes, long pants and sleeves and bring appropriate sun protection. We have some tools available but we also encourage volunteers to bring their own. All volunteers should sign on at the start of the morning. Any incidents or injuries should be reported to the works coordinator on the day.

The work is led by our Work's Coordinator, who, in consultation with the Town of Cambridge. identifies the area and objective for the morning.

Check out our showcase to discover our work, hear from two long-standing members and understand the significance of volunteering to the community of Western Australia.  Video duration:  6 minutes

Weekly Weed Warriors (weeding)

Every Tuesday, our Weed Warriors meet at the Storage Shed at 8am, to tackle specific problem areas of Perry Lakes Reserve. It's the ideal group for those who can't make the monthly weekend dates. Afterwards, join the group for a coffee at Cup & Co.

Adopt a Spot

If you're a regular visitor to the reserve and would like your own small area to care for, then you may be interested in adopting a spot. Contact us or speak with the Works Coordinator at the next weeding day to discuss options.

Educational Talks

Each year we run educational walks and talks. Check our upcoming events diary for the latest details.

Social Activities

Social events are held throughout the year and are a great way to meet others. These are typically free for members.

How we make an impact: PlantFest25

Thanks to our amazing volunteers we planted more than 5000 plants over 3 days in June 2025 during our inaugural PlantFest25.  PlantFest25 was our biggest planting event to date, attracting members and non-members alike.

How volunteering enriches lives and preserves our lakes

Hear from two of our inaugural volunteers about why it's so rewarding to volunteer with Friends of Perry Lakes. They share the joy of giving back to nature, and the meaningful connections they've made along the way. Volunteering with us isn't just about preserving the beauty of Perry Lakes; it's about becoming part of a passionate community dedicated to making a positive impact. Dive into their story and see why you too should join the Friends of Perry Lakes family!

Listening time:  3 minutes.
