What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.

Citizen Science Initiative

Becoming a Citizen Scientist at Perry Lakes

Join a growing community of locals who are actively helping to protect and restore one of Perth’s most important wetlands. As a citizen scientist, you’ll have the opportunity to collect real ecological data — from water levels and quality, to bird and flora surveys — that plays a crucial role in supporting conservation efforts, informing scientific analysis, and guiding decisions made by local councils.

You don’t need any prior experience — just curiosity and a willingness to learn. We’ll provide all the training and tools you need, ensuring that you’re equipped to contribute meaningfully to the project. You’ll be mentored by experts and work alongside fellow volunteers, creating an enriching learning environment.

This is more than just volunteering, the knowledge you gain will give you a deeper understanding of the natural world and how to protect it. Plus, as you build your skills in environmental monitoring, you’ll be directly contributing to real-world scientific research with lasting impact. This is hands-on science with real-world impact, and you’re invited to be part of it.
